SKI RESORTS
Krasnaya Polyana, a small village right at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains, gave its name to the entire mountain cluster in Sochi. 650 m up in the mountains and a short drive away, 70 km only it has become the most popular Russian ski resort area thanks to the Winter Olympics held in February, 2014. Krasnaya Polyana is now roughly 10 times its previous size. The climate here is very similar to a Swiss valley.
The Krasnaya Polyana valley is home to four alpine resorts. Plus to the existing Alpika Service, three brand new ski resorts have been built here almost from scratch – Rosa Khutor, Gazprom (Laura) and Gorki Gorod (Mountain Carousel). All the resorts lie along the valley of the Mzymta (or "Crazy") River within a few minutes of each other.
The roads and slopes have been improved considerablyю. High-speed rail and road links have cut the journey time from Sochi to the ski resorts to just 30 minutes.
A total of 200 km of immaculately prepared pistes and superb off-piste opportunities are offered in Krasnaya Polyana. The ski resorts reach up to 2320 m and they offer 58 state of art ski lifts. The hardships of skiing at Alpika are long gone: the lifts here are factory-fresh Doppelmayr gondolas, LST and Leither-Poma chairlifts with heated seats.
The skiing in these resorts is very good for all levels of ability. The Russian top officials regularly visit Krasnaya Polyana and its a favourite weekend retreat for many.

With 21km of pistes, and a vertical drop of 886 m,
